A large-scale Telegram deepfake sex crime is happening in South Korea.

Recently, a large-scale case of deep-fake sex crime in South Korea has been uncovered, in which photos of female acquaintances are uploaded to Telegram chat rooms and spliced into pornographic videos.

 

 

The perpetrators, mostly teenage males, share information and illegal composites of mutual acquaintances in Telegram chat rooms called overlapping acquaintances. 

 

 

 

 

The number of perpetrators is high, with nearly 6,900 in one channel and 3,500 in another. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In the channels, the perpetrators exposed victims, found people who knew them, and collectively created deepfake illegal composites.

The victim's real name, age, and location are used to find other perpetrators.

In Daegu, the list of schools with deepfake victims includes
Gangbuk Middle School, Yongsan Middle School, Dongbu High School, etc. 

There are also sites that list
schools that have been victims of deepfakes.

All schools, including elementary schools, have been affected.

Schoolgirls are closing their social media accounts in fear  and deleting photos of themselves.

 

 

The affected schools are also reportedly not actively looking for the culprits, but only educating the girls who are victims to be careful.

President Yoon has talked about a strong response, but has consistently
drastically cut the budget for digital sexual violence. 

Any woman can be a victim, whether she's a student, teacher  at a secondary school or university.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Most of the channels have been shut down to avoid investigations, but they could resurface at any time.
We need to make sure that perpetrators are punished strongly, regardless of their age.
